What makes a great contractor?

Some of you may be wondering how to tell the difference between a good contractor and a great contractor. Well, there are several different aspects of a company to look at.

1. On-going Education and Training

Construction and contracting are two processes that will always be evolving. Basically, to stay up to date on the latest technology is nearly impossible as it is constantly changing. This is why contractors must never stop learning and training. This could mean the difference in completing a job in a week, or completing a job in a month. With the proper equipment, technology and training, contractors can save vital time and money. Contractors also need to be familiar with old technology, in case it breaks. As time passes, a once highly efficient and new building, becomes outdated and requires retrocommissioning to maintain efficiency.

Stec Construction is a member of the Ohio Home Builders Association (OHBA), Home Builders Association of Greater Cleveland (HBA), National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), and National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Belonging to these different associations means that we have up to date information, training and courses on everything there is to know in the contracting and constructions world. In addition to education, our updated technology, tools and forklift saves time and energy, which makes us more productive on larger projects when standing up to our competition.

2. References

Without references, how do you know someone is giving you factual information? There is absolutely nothing wrong with asking a contractor for a couple of references that you can contact in order to verify any information or to just ask questions from a client’s perspective.

Stec Construction is a BBB accredited company and has been in the business since 2001. Without our references and past clients, we would not be where we are today!

3. Communication

Communication with each other is vital during construction and this includes the client. The client is the one asking for the service to be done, and quite frankly, they are the ones paying for it! Making sure the client knows and understands that their needs and wants are conveyed and understood is a vital sign of a great contractor.

Stec Construction wants to work with you every step of the way. If you have questions or issues before, during or after our work is done, we are all ears! Our goal is to exceed your expectations and guarantee to maintain a safe, and clean work environment while completing your project, big or small!
